Dear Mr. President,
Sometimes it feels like you didn't know that the job of
being President of the United States came with an actual job description with
defined duties, responsibilities and legislative oversight. It feels like maybe you thought being POTUS
was a free pass to do or say whatever you want to. Which is weird because the election process
and campaign trail were both pretty grueling and everyone (including me)
thought you knew what you were getting into. Maybe you thought that once you
got the job you could change the job description? I'm not sure and I guess we will never know
what really goes on in that big orange brain of yours. But what the American people and
Congressional members have begun to realize is that you are not going to adapt
to the confines and proscriptions of the job.
The position of POTUS actually changes very little no matter
who holds the office. For instance, it's always illegal to lie under oath. It's always illegal to take gifts (regardless
of whether it's cash, property, or favors) from foreign nations. You always have to work with the Senate and
House to pass laws. In fact, there's
very little that you can do unilaterally.
I know it's fun to write all those executive orders, but that's not
really a form of governance. I think
you've at least figured that out by now.
Anyway, it seems like this isn't the job you thought it was.
Not a "good fit" as the HR folks are so fond of saying. So it might be best for all concerned if you
stepped down now rather than being pushed out or forced to resign. If you can't change for the job and the job
can't change for you, just leave now and end things cleanly before anyone gets
hurt.
Sincerely,
Amy Beaton
