#214) Goodbye and Good Riddance

December 15, 2020

Dear Loser,

On election day in November 2008 I woke up my 4 children at 10:00 at night and dragged them down to our local elementary school gym where my husband Peter was counting ballots because I wanted them to be present when the first black man was elected President of the United States.  I told them they were witnessing history, that their grandchildren would ask them about this one day, and that this was probably the most important election of their lives.  The youngest was still in pajamas and didn't understand exactly what was going on but he was there and he clapped and cheered with the crowd when Barack Obama was declared the victor.

Now here we are, 12 years later, and I'm telling them again that THIS is in fact the most important election of their lives (though for vastly different reasons).  They are older now and they understand why voting you out of office is important because they witness your stupidity and inadequacy every day.  With yesterday's ratification by the Electoral College the winner of the 2020 election became officially official and on January 20th Joe Biden will be inaugurated as President of the United States of America.  I couldn't be happier that your reign of terror is coming to an end and that this will be my last letter to you.

There is just one more thing that I would like to say to you to give myself closure as your tenure comes to an end, and that is shame on you!  Shame on you for being a misogynistic, self-seeking, antagonistic, dishonest, petty, selfish, racist, bigot and bully.  Shame on you for endangering the health and safety of American citizens and for enabling dangerous right wing militias and hate groups.  Shame on you for bringing this country to the brink of civil war for your own personal gain and most of all, shame on you for just being such a fucking asshole.

Goodbye and Good Riddance,

Amy Beaton

#213) Problem Solved!

July 16, 2020

Dear Dampy,

I wish that I was clever enough to have written this witty little meme making it's way around Facebook...

"The reason our country is having so many heat waves is because we have so
many thermometers!  More than any other country!  If we stopped looking at
thermometers now, we'd have very few days over 80 degrees, if any."

And I fully expect to see a dramatic drop in covid-19 numbers now that hospitals must report them to the Dept. of Health and Human Services (overseen by you) rather than the Center for Disease Control (a non-partisan public health institute).   I think residents of Florida, Arizona, and Texas must be really relieved that you have taken the reigns and have the power to cut their viral case loads in half with just the swoosh of a pen or a few clicks of the keyboard!  Huzzah!

Perhaps this whole virus hoax will even be OVER by November 3rd.  Wouldn't it be great to have a success like that to brag about just in time for the election.  November 3rd is only 110 days away so you'd better get to work if you want to reframe 137,419 American deaths as a "win" for Team Trump.

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

#212) Silent Majority? Really?

June 22, 2020

Lord Damp Nut,

I've been thinking about Saturday night's re-election rally in Tulsa, and not just about the poor turn out (so sad), but about your mention of the "silent majority".  You said, "The silent majority is stronger than ever." But I'm not sure that is true and they (whoever "they" are) certainly didnt show up for you Saturday night.

When Richard Nixon used the term silent majority in the 1960s he was referring to Americans who did not join in anti-war protests.  But when you use the term you seem to be referring to some supposed vast swathe of the American population who support you in silence for fear of expressing their opinions publicly.  This seems like wishful thinking to me.  Given the recent nation-wide protests where hundreds of thousands of Americans turned out to publicly condemn you, your policies, your abilities, and your divisiveness I think it's safe to say that the "majority" is neither silent nor shy.

I know that there is a group of people who believe that the world is flat, the moon landing was faked, covid-19 is a hoax, and there's no problem that can't be solved by God, guns or Donald Trump.  But this is definitely not the majority of people.

Dream on nut-ball.

Sincerely,
Amy Beaton

P.S.  What if the silent majority are really just closeted K-pop fans?  I mean, you've got to respect the way they silently yet oh so skillfully sabotaged your rally with all those fake reservations.  Plus, K-pop songs are really catchy and BTS are so freakin' cute!

#211) You've Been Punk'd

June 21, 2020

Dear LDN,

Words can hardly express my excitement and gratitude for the youth of America this morning!  In case you're not in the loop already (and let's face it, you're rarely in the loop), here's why...while the fools running your campaign were bragging about selling 1 million tickets to last night's Trump rally in Tulsa AND setting up secondary, outside venues to handle the MASSIVE overflow crowds that were expected, the children of this nation were reserving tickets to the event with the intention of NOT showing up.  That's right, the youth of America have very quietly struck a truly savage blow against you and your hateful administration.  It wasn't antifa.  It wasn't the radical left. It wasn't the anarchists the communists or even the fake news.  It was just some really smart and rather stealthy kids!

A social media campaign led by young people, and most especially K-pop fans, on TikTok, Instagram and Twitter did more (without spending a dime!) to take the wind out of your campaign sails then any organized group of adults ever could.

In a tweet on June 20 your campaign manager Brad Parscale said, "Just passed 800,000 tickets.  Biggest data haul and rally signup of all time by 10x.  Saturday is going to be amazing!"  Well it was "amazing".  Just not in the way you thought it would be!

I could go on and on about the hilarity and brilliance of this plan, but instead I'll let this fun video (highlighting some of the proud pranksters) do the talking:

Sincerely,
Amy Beaton

P.S.  What's that quote from the Bible about a little child leading the way?

#209) Thank You General Mattis

June 5, 2020

Dear Lord Damp Nut,

In all honesty I am finding great comfort in the diversity of people who are speaking up and speaking out against your incompetence and self-absorption during this time of crisis.  There's nothing like the stress of a nation-wide disaster and near-complete collapse of civil society to really bring people together.

General James Mattis (your first Defense Secretary) rarely makes public or political statements but was moved enough by this week's turmoil to write an excellent piece about your leadership skills (or lack thereof) for The Atlantic.  In case you missed it, here's one of the best bits:

"We can unite without him [he means you Damp Nut], drawing on the strengths
inherent in our civil society.  This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown,
             but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise;
             and to our children."

He also said, "We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership."  Ouch.  That one has got to hurt.  You were so happy and proud to have a general on your team way back in 2017...remember?

Perhaps you can find some comfort by reading your Bible.

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

P.S.  For someone who is failing, very publicly, in almost every aspect of his personal and professional life you sure are throwing the word "loser" around an awful lot when you talk about other people.  I'd stop doing that if I were you.  Just saying.

#208) Another One Bites The Dust

June 4, 2020

Dear Lord Damp Nut,

After hearing Secretary of Defense Mark Esper today rebuke your call to deploy the US military against protesters I thought, well that guy will be gone in a few days.  And that made me think about all of the other people who have left your administration over the last three and a half years.  I made a list of them and let me tell you...there have been a LOT of departures.

Since the list was so massive I decided to sort them into themed groups as a way to highlight A) your administration's ineptitude in general, and B) your poor leadership skills in particular.

Here are my groupings:
            -quit because of you
-fired by you because you didn't like something they said
-fired by you because they were smarter than you
            -charged with a criminal offense
            -arrested and/or jailed
-willing to testify to Congress (or other pertinent legal authority) about you

Unfortunately, about an hour into this undertaking I became overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task and abandoned it altogether (although there is a Wikipedia page with lists of "Trump administration dismissals and resignations" which you should check out).

Suffice it to say that your presidency has been a failure of truly epic proportions (and we'll leave it to the historians to sort out the gruesome details).

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

P.S.  Shout out to Republican Senator John Thune who – like Mark Esper - has spoken out against deploying military troops to quell the civil unrest caused by protests.  In his own simple words: "The goal always is to de-escalate, not escalate."  Way to go John!

#207) Raise Your Voice George

Office of George W. Bush
PO Box 259000
Dallas, TX  75255-9000

June 3, 2020

Dear Mr. President,

Hey – it's me again.  Sorry to bother you, but I'm worried that I didn't make it clear enough in my last letter that your endorsement of Joe Biden should be really public.  Not just a memo released to the press by your office, but a real out-and-proud-type of endorsement where you stand with the other three living presidents and make it clear to the American people that Donald Trump's failing ship of state can be righted but that it will take all of us – Democrats and Republicans – working together.

I'm not saying that you have to hold hands and sing Kumbaya (although I would personally love that).  But you do have to stand as a group in solidarity and as representatives of the office of the president; an office which ultimately transcends partisan party affiliation.  Americans need to be reminded that there is strength in both unity and diversity and that working together is the only way to heal the damage wrought by the Trump administration.

I believe that Republican voices are needed to restore balance to this broken system.  Please consider the power that your voice has and how to best use it in these difficult times.

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

#206) You're Doing It Wrong

June 3, 2020

Dearest Dampy,

I'm not exactly sure what's behind your sudden and inappropriately timed visits to religious sites but it's generally a bad sign when you piss off both the Episcopalians AND the Catholics in less than 24 hours.

I guess your visit to the shrine of Pope John Paul II this morning was another attempt at a photo op but based on how badly your bible waving in front of St John's went the night before I've got to ask...what were you thinking?!  God is not a media prop.  Not only is that seriously bad form, it also reeks of desperation. It's like you are searching for some type of legitimacy by aligning yourself with holy objects even though you have no personal connection or even knowledge of those holy objects. If you are getting this PR/spiritual advice from Paula White you should know that that woman is bat-shit crazy and should be avoided at all costs.

Catholic Archbishop Wilton Gregory said, “I find it baffling and reprehensible that any Catholic facility would allow itself to be so egregiously misused and manipulated in a fashion that violates our religious principles, which call us to defend the rights of all people, even those with whom we might disagree.  Saint Pope John Paul II was an ardent defender of the rights and dignity of human beings. His legacy bears vivid witness to that truth.  He certainly would not condone the use of tear gas and other deterrents to silence, scatter or intimidate them for a photo opportunity in front of a place of worship and peace.”

And Episcopal Bishop Marian Edgar Budde said, "The President just used a Bible ... and one of the churches of my diocese without permission as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything our churches stand for....I am outraged."  And a few other choice things that I don't have time to get into just now.  But you should definitely give it a Google because she is seriously pissed off with you.

So if you were trying to convey the message that God is on your side or you are doing the work of God or tear gassing peaceful protestors is some kind of a sacred mission I think you failed pretty spectacularly.  In fact, the world is still quite confused about what your message is, exactly.

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

P.S.  Why did the chicken cross the road?
To pose for a blasphemous photo op at St. John's Episcopal Church!! Ha ha!

P.P.S.  As you were randomly posing and posturing with that bible outside St. John's and the reporter asked you if it was your bible it really would have been better if you had lied and said, yes, instead of saying, "It's A bible."  That line is going to be a classic and will live on the internet for ever and ever (and ever and ever Amen).

P.P.P.S.  I think the Muslims are feeling left out.  If you have any free time tomorrow you should definitely swing by the Islamic Center and Mosque on Massachusetts Ave.  They would love to see you!

#205) WTF

June 2, 2020

Dear Damp Nut,

Here's what's I can't stop thinking about...we are in the midst of a national crisis, the likes of which we haven't seen for 50 years, and the language of our politicians and journalists just makes me angrier.  "Civil unrest" and "systemic inequalities" are such polite terms.  Delicate almost.  They feel clinical and safe at a time when the majority of Americans are demanding the complete opposite.

But I don't want to sanitize the injustice perpetuated on black communities in this country.  I think that we need to address it with raw honesty (as painful as that is).  People need to vent their anger and have their pain be heard.  Rioting and looting are awful, of course, but they are a physical representation of a deeper need to be seen.  There are many police departments all around the country who recognize this and have chosen to walk with protesters or kneel in solidarity to their purpose.

You, of course, are too stupid to see that need and instead have opted to arm up and "dominate" the protesters (at least to the best of your ability as most governors do NOT agree with your approach).

Your strongman routine last night (marching to St. John's Church for a photo op after mobilizing security forces to clear you a path through peaceful protesters) was totally ineffective and only served to highlight your impotence and inadequacy.  There was nothing triumphant or heroic about the moment.  It was farcical.  In fact, I think that picture is destined for infamy as it so nicely captures the absurdity of your presidency and complete lack of "dominance" (your word).   I'm sure my future grandchildren will see it in their social studies texts with a description like:

"President Donald Trump's made-for-TV embrace of authoritarianism's imagery
and tools at a brittle national moment risks unleashing toxic political forces that
threaten America's democratic traditions." (from Stephen Collinson, CNN)

I'm not a religious person but I do find comfort in thinking that there's a special place in hell reserved for leaders, such as yourself, willing to sacrifice the very people they were elected to serve and protect in an effort to feed their own malignant narcissism and fragile ego.

Keep it up asshole.  Only 154 days until the election (that's right...I've started a count down clock).

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

#204) Dear George

The Office of George W. Bush
P.O. Box 259000
Dallas, TX  75255-9000

June 2, 2020

Dear President Bush,

I am writing to ask that you formally and publicly endorse Joe Biden for president.  The November 3rd election will be the most important election of our lifetime because
sectionalism in the country and factionalism in government has led to a dangerous level of divisiveness that is tearing at the very fabric of our society.  Donald Trump and Trumpism is at the heart of this divisiveness and must be stopped.

Many Republicans and right-leaning independents recognize the dangers of Donald Trump's poor leadership and are organizing against his re-election. I think the folks at The Lincoln Project said it best,
"Patriotism and the survival of our nation in the face of the crimes, corruption and
corrosive nature of Donald Trump are a higher calling than mere politics. As Americans,
we must stem the damage he and his followers are doing to the rule of law, the Constitution
            and the American character."

Only defeating so polarizing a character as Trump will allow the country to heal its political and psychological wounds and allow for a new, better path forward for all Americans.

So please consider putting party policy differences aside, as a true act of public service, and endorse Joe Biden for president of the United States.  Your voice has power and your endorsement may be what moderate Republicans need to hear to finally turn their back on Trumpism and the madness of the MAGA agenda.

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

#203) A New Level Of Stupid

May 15, 2020

More inspiring words from our fearless, freaky leader....

Trump: "When you test, you have a case.  When you test, you find something is wrong with people.
If we didn't do any testing we would have very few cases."

Also Trump:   "Katie, she tested very good for a long period of time and then all of the
sudden today she tested positive.  This is why the whole concept of tests                          aren't necessarily great."

If this level of stupidity was coming from the guy down the street who yells at pigeons or your weird college roommate who dropped out but kept living in the dorm and smoking pot 24/7 it might be funny.  But coming out of the mouth of the President of the United States it is terrifying and dangerous.

And just to remind everyone of where we stand, the US has 1,460,902 covid-19 cases and 87,025 deaths.

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

#202) The Lincoln Project

April 28, 2020

The Lincoln Project is a Republican Political Action Committee (PAC) devoted to defeating Donald Trump (and Trumpism) at the ballot box this November.

This is an excerpt from their website where they also post scathing anti-Trump ads:
"Today, we find ourselves divided again – sectionalism in the country and
factionalism in government has led to ever uglier examples of how our political
system is failing. President Donald Trump and those who sign onto Trumpism are
a clear and present danger to the Constitution and our Republic. Only defeating so
polarizing a character as Trump will allow the country to heal its political and
psychological wounds and allow for a new, better path forward for all Americans."

I think that activating Republicans and making them aware of the dangers and deficiencies of Donald Trump is just about the most important work to be doing right now (besides controlling the coronavirus that is!) and I have made a donation to this group.

Keep up the good work everybody!

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

#201) You're So Funny

April 25, 2020

Dearest Dampy,

When one hears the name Donald Trump one immediately thinks highly successful (obviously), stable (of course), genius (without a doubt), generous to a fault with a body like a Greek statue and a mind like a steel trap (clearly).  But now that you have shown America your funny side (and thank you for pointing it out to us by the way because honestly I think most of us missed it) with that sarcastic joke about ingesting disinfectant - really?!   Well, I think we can add rapier wit to your growing list of accomplishments.

It was truly masterful the way you played the crowd, letting them think that you actually wanted people to ingest and inject cleaning fluids into their bodies to kill the coronavirus.  I must admit...I fell for it!  Thank God you pointed out that you were making a sarcastic joke.  Phew!  I really dodged a bullet there because I had just bought some bleach and was about to give myself a high colonic when you – so generously – pointed out that it was just a joke.

Pure comedy gold I tell you.

Most comedians spend years developing and honing their skills.  I've seen every episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel AND Seinfeld so I pretty much know what I'm talking about and you, sir, are what comedians call "a natural".  No training necessary.  No sirree.  Absolutely none.

The next time I hear comedy legends like George Burns, Bob Hope, Robin Williams, and Gilda Radner getting all the glory I'm going to say, "Hey! Donald J. Trump TRUMPs them ALL!"  (get it?)  I'm going to make sure that you take your rightful place in history as the biggest joke of all time.

You know what they say, if you can't keep 'em happy, safe, healthy, employed, fed or housed, you'd better keep 'em laughing!  Thanks for brightening my day.

Sincerely and Sarcastically Yours,

Amy Beaton

#200) The Stupid - It Hurts

April 24, 2020

I have long relied on National Public Radio for honest, comprehensive, and non-biased reporting.  At the start of this pandemic NPR aired your White House virus briefings live and in their entirety, even when they went on for hours and hours (and hours and hours).  Recently, however, NPR has decided to stop covering the briefings.  They can still be accessed (in their entirety) at NPR.org on-line, but they are no longer given live-air time.  This was done for two reasons: 1) many listeners asked NPR to cease coverage because the briefings became less newsworthy over time, and 2) the NPR news team felt the briefings to be "meandering and contradictory and the president has at times also used them to spread falsehoods and air personal grievances."  Station KUOW in Seattle cited "a pattern of false or misleading information provided that can not be fact checked in real time."

So yesterday's briefing was newsworthy in that it went beyond "false and misleading" and straight to dangerous and life-threatening when you suggested that perhaps people could inject cleaning fluids such as disinfectants into their bodies as a way to kill the virus.

Medical professionals all over the country were quick (so very f***ing quick) to counteract your statements as wrong and dangerous and in the case of certain disinfectants, even lethal.  Manufacturers of such products as Lysol were also quick to distance themselves as much as possible from your remarks and warned people in no uncertain terms of the dangers of internal use.

During that same briefing you also latched on to the idea that heat and light might possibly be used as anti-viral treatments.  "So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light — and I think you said that hasn't been checked but you're going to test it," Trump said. "And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside of the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting." (Do you, like, own some tanning beds that you're looking to unload or what?)

Seriously...so much stupid....I can't make this stuff up.

Sincerely Speechless,
Amy Beaton

P.S.  Here's another little gem from that briefing:
"Maybe you can, maybe you can’t ... I’m not a doctor. But I’m, like, a person that has a good you-know-what," Trump said, pointing to his head.

#199) Brief This

April 23, 2020

Dear Asshole,

Today while you were holding your daily coronavirus briefing (which was really just one long, disjointed rant attacking journalists and hyping unproven cures while at the same time applauding your own genius-because nobody else was) here's what was actually happening in the rest of the country:

            - 876,174 total confirmed cases of covid-19 to date
            - 49,651 deaths from covid-19 to date
            - 27,457 new covid-19 cases diagnosed
            - 1,992 new deaths reported
            - an antibody study of 3,000 New York residents found that 13.9% had coronavirus
antibodies, suggesting a 13.9% actual infection rate statewide which translates to an estimate
of about 2,700,000 actual cases in New York State (10 times more than the about 270,000
cases that have been detected and reported officially)
            - Gov. Cuomo acknowledged that the official death count for his state is inaccurate as it does
not include stay at home deaths.  There have been about 21,000 stay at homes deaths that did
not get tested for the virus
            - 26.5 million people are out of work
            - The United States is now the epicenter of a global pandemic and there is still no coherent
            national plan to address it

These briefings, like your campaign rallies, are just sad attempts to feed your ego and bolster your obviously failing self-esteem.  They have almost nothing to do with public health, safety, or education but do provide remarkable insight into the state of your mental health.

Honestly,

Amy Beaton

#198) It's a Lying Shame (woops, I mean sham)

April 22, 2020

Dear Damp Nut,

In yet another truth-is-stranger-than-fiction series of events, Dr. Rick Bright was removed from his role as director of the BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) team tasked with developing a coronavirus vaccine because...drum roll, please...he publicly stated that the anti-malaria drug that you've been promoting as a "cure" for the virus doesn't actually work.  How shocking!

Dr. Bright's demotion was obviously (painfully obviously) politically motivated.
He suggested that we should, "limit the broad use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine promoted by the administration as a panacea, but which clearly lack scientific merit."  He went on to point out that those drugs have significant side effects, no proven benefits, and even increased deaths in a small study of military veterans diagnosed with covid-19.

Luckily for the American people, Dr. Bright is not going quietly.  He remains vocal about your inept handling of this health emergency, has engaged a legal team, and is cooperating with the Inspector General's office who is investigating "the manner in which this administration has politicized the work of BARDA and has pressured Dr. Bright and other conscientious scientists to fund companies with political connections and efforts that lack scientific merit."

In all honesty I am no longer shocked by your crazy, illegal, and immoral behavior.  It's the people that surround and support you, however, the people that enable your crimes and are willing to do anything to assuage your fragile ego that are the ones that keep me up at night. (Like the mid-level shmuck who had to face Dr. Bright across a desk and actually fire him. Yeah, I'd love to meet that guy.) Hitler was only one man after all.  He could not have done what he did if he didn't have legions of followers who believed in his perverted dreams.

You piss me off, but it's your followers who really scare me.  And if you had any sense at all they would scare you too.

With Disgust,
Amy Beaton

P.S.  Interesting side note:  Sanofi is a French drug company that makes chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine.  One of Sanofi's largest shareholders is a douchebag named Ken Fisher who is also a major Trump campaign donor.  It's a small world after all!

P.P.S
Putting the word "possible" in front of the word cure when referring to chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine as a coronavirus cure doesn't it make it any less of a criminal lie that endangers the health and safety of innocent and gullible Americans (you know...like the idiots who voted for you).

#197) Lord Damp Nut

February 8, 2020

Dear Lord Damp Nut,

Fun fact: the name Donald Trump can be anagrammed to spell Lord Damp Nut.  How cool is that?!

I think Lord Damp Nut has a nice ring to it and I know that you enjoy fancy titles and that you love nicknames.  Plus, being a Lord is way better than being a president so this is what I'm going to call you from now on.  Let's hope it catches on (don't worry, I'll talk it up for you).

Your welcome!!

Sincerely,

Amy Beaton

#196) Dont Stop Believin'

February 7, 2020

Dear President Trump,
The following essay was written by George Conway (the hero America needs right now!) and was published  in the Washington Post February 5, 2020.
Enjoy...

I believe the president, and in the president.

I believe the Senate is right to acquit the president.  I believe a fair trial is one with no witnesses, and that the trial was therefore fair.  I believe the House was unfair because it found evidence against him.  I believe that if the president does something that he believes will get himself reelected, that's in the public interest and can't be the kind of thing that results in impeachment.

I believe former national security adviser John Bolton has no relevant testimony because he didn't leave the White House on good terms.

I believe the president's call was perfect.  I believe he is deeply concerned about corruption in Ukraine.  I believe the president can find Ukraine on a map.

I believe Ukraine interfered with the 2016 election, and that the intelligence community's suggestion otherwise is a Deep State lie.  I believe the Democratic National Committee server is in Ukraine, where CrowdStrike hid it.

I believe President Barack Obama placed a "tapp" on the president's phones in 2016, and that the Russia investigation was a plot to keep him from winning, even though the plotters didn't think he could win.

I believe former special counsel Robert S. Mueller III was conflicted because he quit one of the president's golf clubs, and that he and his Angry Democrats conducted a Witch Hunt to destroy the president.  But I believe Mueller's report totally exonerated the president, because it found no collusion and no obstruction.

I believe it would be okay for the president to say he grabs women by their p----s, because he is a star, and stars are allowed to do that.  But I believe he didn't say that, even though he apologized for it, because I believe the "Access Hollywood" tape was doctored, because he said it was.

I believe E. Jean Carroll lied when she accused the president of rape, because he said she's not his type.  I believe the dozens of other women who accused him of sexual misconduct are also lying, because he would never think of grabbing them by their p----s or anything else.

I believe the president didn't know Michael Cohen was paying off porn star Stormy Daniels, and that Cohen did it on his own, because the president had no reason to pay her off.  I believe the president was reimbursing Cohen for his legal expertise.

I believe the president is a good Christian, because TV pastors say so, and that it's okay he doesn't ask for God's forgiveness, because he doesn't need to, since he's the Chosen One.  I believe the president knows the Bible, and that two Corinthians are better than one.

I believe the president wants to release his taxes but has not because he's under audit, which is why he has fought all the way to the Supreme Court not to disclose them.  I believe he will disclose them when the audit is over, and that they will show him to be as rich and honest as he says he is.

I believe the president is a very stable genius, and that he repeatedly tells us so because it's true.

I believe the president can spell.  I believe any spelling mistakes he makes are because he's a very busy man who doesn't watch much TV, or because he's intentionally triggering the libs.

I believe Hurricane Dorian was headed straight for Alabama.  I believe the president's map wasn't altered with a Sharpie, and that if it was, he didn't do it, since he didn't need to because he was right.

I believe the president didn't call Apple's CEO "Tim Apple" and that he said "Tim Cook of Apple" really, really fast, but that if he did say "Tim Apple", it was to save words, which he always tries to do.

I believe windmills cause cancer.  I believe there was a mass shooting in Toledo and that there were airports during the Revolution, because the president said so.

I believe the president is defeating socialism, despite the subsidies he's paying to save farmers from his protectionism and the $3.2 trillion he's added to the national debt during his term.

I believe the president has made tremendous progress building the wall, that Mexico paid for it in the trade deal, that the wall will soon run from San Diego to the Gulf of Mexico, that it will stop those caravans cold, and that it won't fall down.

I believe the president has a 95% approval rating among Republicans, and that there's no need to cite polls for that.

I believe the president had the largest inaugural crowd ever, regardless of what any photos from the liberal bureaucrats might show.

I believe there is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea.

I believe China pays all tariffs levied on imported Chinese goods.

I believe the president is truthful.  I believe the Fake News media lied each of the 16, 241 times they have said he has made a false or misleading claim.

I believe the president is selfless, and always puts the nation's interests first.  I believe he isn't a narcissist, but he'd be entitled to be one if he were one.  I believe the president would never exercise his presidential powers to advance his personal interests, but if he did, that would be okay, because whatever is in his personal interests is necessarily in the nation's interests as well.

I believe Article II of the Constitution gives the president the right to do whatever he wants.

Thank you George Conway...'don't stop believin'!!

#195) Thank You Mitt Romney

Senator Mitt Romney

Dear Senator Romney,

I want to thank you, most sincerely, for voting to remove Donald Trump from office during last week's Senate impeachment trial.  It took real courage and could not have been an easy or comfortable stance for you to take.

You (and quite probably your entire family) will face backlash because of this vote. The fact that you understand this and were able to put your personal comfort and safety aside to vote your conscious speaks volumes about the kind of person that you are. Not the kind of politician that you are...but the kind of person that you are.  You read, you listened, you asked questions, deliberated thoughtfully, and ultimately you voted to convict Donald Trump based on the facts as well as your personal beliefs about the oath that you took as a US Senator to uphold the ideals and principles of the Constitution.

I was moved by your speech when you said, "Corrupting an election to keep oneself in office is perhaps the most abusive and destructive violation of one's oath of office that I can imagine" because I feel exactly the same way.   So thank you for putting that out to the world as simply and clearly as you did.  It will resonate, hopefully, with those who have not bought into the cult of personality that this man's presidency has become.

Your act of bravery meant something to me.  I just wanted you to know that.

Sincerely, Your New Friend in Vermont,
Amy Beaton
