#107) Support for London

June 4, 2017

Dear Mr. President,

Hey -when your closest ally is the victim of a terrorist attack that kills 7, wounds 48, and terrifies thousands there is only ONE acceptable response and it's not, "We need to be smart, vigilant, and tough.  We need the courts to give us back our rights.  We need the Travel ban as an extra level of safety."  It's unconditional support and solidarity.

You seem to have not figured out yet that the goals of these attacks are to terrify and divide people, to sow the seeds of fear and distrust.  When we give in to the "us" vs. "them" mentality then terrorists have won because we will no longer be working together as a strong and unified team.  We must capitalize on the strength of our numbers and the strength of our shared human experiences.  Whether we speak English, French or Farsi we all want a safe and peaceful world for ourselves, our families, and our friends.

And please, put your stupid phone down and stop Tweeting!  When faced with a trauma of this magnitude I think the President of the United States should actually stand up in front of a camera, look directly into it, and a deliver a message (that's longer than 140 characters) to the entire world that we stand shoulder to shoulder not only with the UK but with ALL people of the world who want to live in peace.  Remember, we are not in this fight alone.

Sincerely,
Amy Beaton

  1. Good one Amy! You captured beautifully what this short sighted myopic buffoon should be doing to actually be "presidential".
